Message from NE Area VP Dave Ellis

Message from NE Area VP Dave Ellis

Good Day everybody, there is a lot going on behind the scenes this winter. Here we go, 1st is the National Convention to be held in Springfield, MA at the Big E, and the NEA area officers are tasked with recruiting volunteers for this event which is to be held in Aug 3-7 2016.

We are in need of approx. 500 volunteers for assistance, so if you can find the time to help us please contact myself or Mr. Bob Mills, who is the volunteer captain, his email is fourwindsbob@gmail.com. He will let you know where he needs help

I have been tasked with early security for this event and am in need of approx. 20 volunteers for 2 days of work.  We will be security for the vendors and display coaches and will be checking their badges at the entrance while they set up etc.  If you are able to help please let me know and I will pass this on to Bob, we are to arrive July 31 and will have meeting as to our areas we need to cover and what’s involved. The meeting will be in the afternoon on the 31st. It is also important that we need to fill out the reservation form as soon as they’re out there to send to National.

Our hours will be 8 hour shift and as early as 7am to 7pm so the more people we have the easier it will be for us all to do our jobs to the best that we can. We can break down the times as necessary. If you don’t send in the forms ASAP there is a chance you will be parked in the satellite areas which I’m not sure there locations.  I’m sure our people will be doing their best to send in their forms as soon as you can and note that you are a volunteer.

2016 Summer FMCA Family Reunion in West Springfield, Mass

Please share this GREAT NEWS with all of your chapter members ASAP!  The Governing Board here at Madison WI approved West Springfield, Massachusetts as the location for the Summer 2016 FMCA Family Reunion - August 3-6.  This is pending successful negotiations, but we don't foresee any problems in this regard.

Other news to report from Madison:
The Elections went as follows:
Charles Adcock - President
Jon Walker - Sr. Vice President
Gaye Young - Secretary
Percy Bell - Treasurer

The voting count for the National Secretary position was:
 278 possible votes
 274 votes valid & counted
    4 votes were invalid

143 - Gaye Young
131 - John Ferrari

We had 281 voting members out of a possible 402 present at the Governing Board meeting yesterday.  There were 18 members present representing the Northeast Area.

There were 2 changes voted on for the By Laws; and 6 changes/amendments to the Policy and Procedures.  I will give you the details on those votes when I return home next week.

Some future dates for you to consider:
Winter 2017 (February)  Family Reunion - Chandler AZ was approved by the Governing Board, pending successful negotiations;
Summer 2017 Family Reunion will take place in Indianapolis IN (this was approved in Redmond OR)

We have a great opportunity to let FMCA know what a great Area we have and that we are not to be taken lightly.  Please support the 2016 Summer Family Reunion in Massachusetts next August by stepping up and volunteering.  If you are unable to volunteer we still need you to be there as a participant.  Bob Mills, VP Northeast Area will be the Volunteer Chairman.  Please contact him if you or your chapter is interested in volunteering.  We need all hands on deck.

I will be sending out another email when I return home with more information regarding the 2016 Rally at the Big E and further details regarding the Governing Board Meeting here in Madison WI.

AGAIN - PLEASE SHARE THIS EMAIL WITH YOUR CHAPTER MEMBERS ASAP!!

Thank you,

Donna Merlino, Secretary NEA

Cape Cod Rally

Again this year a multi-day, multi-chapter FMCA Rally was held along the Cape Cod Canal at Scussett Beach.  Four Metropolitan members who are also members of the New England Chapters holding the Rally were in attendance.  The weather was fantastic, the Beach and the trail along the canal were thoroughly enjoyed by all.  Mo was asked to help serve some of the meals, which he did in his own style, and was received warmly by everyone there.  It was a terrific Rally!

Below are some of the pictures from the Rally.
